Metallic Gold! Fall, 2010 Trends

Metallic gold is back, and lots of it! It has been awhile since metallic colors have been in the fashion spotlight, but this 80’s trend is back! From Jason Wu's Metallic printed frocks to Marco Zanini’s trendy head-to-toe shimmering brocade fashions, fall 2010’s runway designs were packed with silver and gold. Although silver was present in some designs, the main metallic color in most collections was gold. Add metallics to your own wardrobe by simply updating your style with some gold accessories, such as golden pumps, totes, belts, scarves or gloves. These trendy accessories will give you a persona of nonchalant, understated glamour.
Pair your golden accent pieces with khaki and your silver accessories with soft gray colored clothing for a daytime look. These colors come across as muted metallics when paired with gold and silver accessories. This fashion forward look also keeps your ensemble in one color hue, another hot trend this fall. Metallic embellishment can jazz up any day or evening ensemble. Look for cardigans with sequined trim or layer a shimmer camisole under a more subtle blouse. For evening wear, dive into the trend and wear a black dress or bubble skirt with shimmer thread leggings or a full out sequined dress. To get the best out of your metallic look, make sure to follow these final golden rules: Be careful when selecting your metallic garment, and pay close attention to the fabric. You don’t want the material to look like you decided to get creative with your roll of aluminum foil. Shiny satin and high-tech fabrics look great in metallic.
Shimmer also has a tendency to accentuate bulges; if something looks wrong, don’t be afraid to simply walk away. This fall’s metallic style looks great worn from head-to-toe or simply as a fun accessory. For the latest merchandise postings, go to
