Simply Stripes

This Spring/Summer, the forecast for one of the hottest trends making another appearance is the sailor stripe. 2010 has re-vamped the sailor stripe with a playful twist. Of course the common stripy t-shirts are back and more popular than ever, and if you find yourself not wanting to be too daring, then these are many high street stores have added much more detail, and put stripes on everything from blazers to dresses, and even play suits. One of the many wardrobe challenges for executive women is how to look fresh and current without becoming a fashion victim. (Dynasty-style shoulder pads, anyone?) Fortunately, one of the all-time classic looks, nautical stripes, has become one of the biggest trends this spring. It’s a great time to incorporate the look into your office attire, if you haven’t already. Stripes always seem to show up in spring styles. However, this year the focus is on the French sailor stripe first popularized by Coco Chanel, also known as a mariniere or Breton stripe. Figure hugging dresses are huge at the moment. Topshop has combined that with stripes to create some gorgeous nautical style dresses that are perfect for wearing in the daytime, or alternatively in the evening teamed with some heels. The Stripe Shirred Frill Tunic is the perfect casual stripy look. It is very simple and has just a touch of rouching detail. Although the nautical trend has been done a million times before, it's best to wear alternative stripes so you can switch it up by wearing different colored stripes, because who said they had to be blue and white? Shoes Go Dutch- BusaccaFashionGallery.com

Monsieur Lagerfeld, has taken us by surprise yet again, when he decided that clogs will be “in” for the warmer months of 2010; fashionistas will have to have to make peace with this second coming. Born to be worn to complement this season’s shorter-than-short shorts and simple shirt dresses, like it or not, 2010 is the year of the clog.. This ’70s-inspired favorite from the runways of Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Vera Wang is set to become summer’s coolest (and comfortable) shoe trend. Shoes this spring give an option for comfort as well as being bang on trend. In amongst the usual clutch of vertiginous heels comes lower footwear such as clogs, brogues and kitten heels. So it’s say goodbye to bunions and blisters in the name of fashion! Footwear breaks the rules this summer, wear sandals with socks and ankle boots against bare skin. Choose footwear in this season’s gorgeous nude tones for extra leg-lengthening. I have such fond memories of my comfy clogs that I'm pretty excited to think that I'll be able to get my hands on a similar pair this spring. And while I love teetering around in my pinchy high-heels, a chunky, sturdy heel could definitely do a body good.

Modern Men, Fusing Classic Styles With Today's Fashions, 2010

The new year, 2010, brings a feeling of liberation of human expression and style that has been culminated over the past decade. Men have been released from the shackles of the traditional blue-or-black color palette and seek to rival the opposite sex in their appeal to sartorial taste and personal expression through the medium of clothing. Modern (or perhaps, post-modern) fashion tastes show personality and expression beyond the typical norm – though a brief return to classic, conservative sensibility is evident during the current recession. Look for bright, bold colors in both abstract and complimentary prints to appear commonly as more and more men turn to increasingly vibrant color palettes. Fresh greens, bright blues, and majestic pinks and purples look to make a great impact over the next decade – being complimented with stark black, tropical orange, and sunset reds.
Fit is the name of the game. No longer is there any reason to have ill-fitting dress shirts, suits, or even casual pants – custom and handmade tailoring can substitute for any traditional purchase with little additional expense. No longer constrained by budgets, men in 2010 and onward have full access to a variety of respectable on-line merchants that will provide perfectly customized and tailored clothing to your door for a fraction of the current market price.
