Metallic Gold! Fall, 2010 Trends

Metallic gold is back, and lots of it! It has been awhile since metallic colors have been in the fashion spotlight, but this 80’s trend is back! From Jason Wu's Metallic printed frocks to Marco Zanini’s trendy head-to-toe shimmering brocade fashions, fall 2010’s runway designs were packed with silver and gold. Although silver was present in some designs, the main metallic color in most collections was gold. Add metallics to your own wardrobe by simply updating your style with some gold accessories, such as golden pumps, totes, belts, scarves or gloves. These trendy accessories will give you a persona of nonchalant, understated glamour.
Pair your golden accent pieces with khaki and your silver accessories with soft gray colored clothing for a daytime look. These colors come across as muted metallics when paired with gold and silver accessories. This fashion forward look also keeps your ensemble in one color hue, another hot trend this fall. Fall Military Styles March in for 2010

The Fall 2010 season is all about military chic. Military looks are paired with classics such as heavy boots and military jackets, which are some of the key elements of this season's army style. Influences of the 20th century uniforms can be observed. Coats and jackets have strongly emphasized shoulders, with big functional or decorative buttons, military overalls and cargo pants, caps and boots, and a lot of khaki. As we have seen, this season, khaki is everywhere, replacing the maroon that was frequently seen on the catwalks in the past seasons. Everybody should be happy for the success of khaki over maroon, as this is color that flatters most. Military chic, with khaki as dominant color, can be seen in the Burberry Prorsum collection that sweetens the looks a little bit matching military jackets with lace dresses. Besides khaki, Burberry proposes bolder colors, such as blue neon and green, for their military jackets. At Marc Jacobs, the military jacket is shorter and buttoned up for a more masculine look. Besides the famous khaki that seems to be everywhere this season especially when it comes to military trend, there is another famous color: gray. At MaxMara, the military trend is highly represented by the wide belt that was a big trend a few years ago. The collection, which has been based on the eighties swing-coated military figures, is rich in gray military jackets that seem to draw their inspiration from the Russian armies. Wide, kasatchok pants tucked into leather knee boots represented a surprising element in the MaxMara runway show. Military trend extended a little bit for fall/winter 2010-2011, entering into the aviator area through leather jackets with fur collars, leather pants, and specific accessories. And, if there is one essential item to keep in mind for this season is the aviator jacket inspired by the aviators of the Second World War. Back in 1990 the aviator jacket was so famous, but now it's back again for fall/winter 2010/2011. We have seen it at Burberry Prorsum worn with very feminine and sexy dresses and thigh high boots. An interesting military interpretation could also be seen at the Chanel Fall 2010 runway. We all know that the military trend is not a too feminine one, able to enhance and express elegance and sexiness. Men & Women's Footwear Dominates The Streets Of Summer, 2010

With outrageous fashion trends like hot pants, strong shoulders and heavy print leggings, it's no wonder that shoes this season are going to need to complement that with a bit of subtlety. Shoes this season are in neutral tones of champagne, caramel and taupe. Footwear for both men and women this Summer, 2010 season have shown much promise. Designers and bargain hunters alike, pull vintage inspired styles that make any sidewalk sparkle.

Ladies...Comfortable vintage inspired Wedges are back, and they're going to go perfectly with this years summer season. Go for a neutral colored medium height shoe without a platform sole. Peep holes are also a popular look for wedges and add a feminine feel. Although, discern if the wedge has too many bells and whistles, and how it will fit in with spring wardrobes. To avoid over styling, a good editing eye is necessary. With lots of legs this season, women are going to need a shoe that helps shape the legs, easy to move around in, or even run around in for that matter, and the echo the vintage pinup feel of hot pants and statement hair accessories. Oxfords, The Next GenerationOxfords have been around for a few seasons now, but now there are new spins on the casual, smart street shoe. There are Oxford Ballerina flats, which are basically ballet flats with Oxford style laces. Fabric Oxfords are another casual flat option. It's the season's take on the sneaker. Laced boots that reach the tip of the ankle are another great spring shoe that have an androgynous energy to them, especially the styles with cut outs and lace. Finally, the Season of Clogs. These wooden shoes have inspired the looks of designers Chanel and Louis Vuitton. A backless clog with a wooden platform and a chunky wood heel. Alexander Wang also made a black, chunky-heeled, backless clog, which at the very least seems more wearable with edgy punk trends like leather, chains and side-slitted leggings. Louis Vuitton styled his clogs with huge afros and 70s style. It's definitely a great runway look but necessary practical for an everyday look.

Gentlemen...Boat shoes are a summer shoe trend for both men and women in 2010. Although there are many different styles available, most boat shoes share similar design elements; a water-resistant leather upper and a rubber sole are typical materials. Many boat shoes also have leather laces that weave in and out around the heel of the shoe’s leather upper, tying in front near the tongue. Look for classic designs by Sperry for a range of color and design.
Two narrow toe shapes dominating male footwear fashion, namely apron toes and bicycle toes. Apron toes have a seam that goes up the side, across the front, and down the other side, and as their name would suggest, this makes an apron like shape. A key toe style to look out for is the bicycle toe. This is where the shoe has two seams, each running down either side of the front of the show all the way forward to the sole. The bicycle toe and apron toe were the most popular on the catwalks of 2010. A theme could be seen running through several of the mens catwalk shows this year and that theme was travel. Think 1930s or 1940s traveller rather than the modern traveller and you will get the picture. This trend is reflected in the mens shoe trends for the year too. One shoe that encapsulates all the drama and adventure of the post war travel aesthetic is the espadrille, which is basically a lightweight shoe with a rope sole and a canvas top. Originally intended for hillwalking in the Pyrenees, these breathable and stylish shoes are expected to be a big hit this summer. Men's Summer 2010 Runways Pull Inspiration From NYC Streets

For men that really like to be fashion conscience, it can be draining on the pocket book when it comes to trying to keep up with yearly trends. However it doesn't have to be that way if a man does his shopping carefully. For the super conscientious individual looking to see what's on the runway for the beginning for this summer's fashions, look to no further than pulling inspiration from from this seasons designer collections. The New York runways displayed a strong spring-summer 2010 collection for men this season. The French label, Louis Vuitton looked to New York City's daredevil bike messengers for inspiration for its sportswear-meets-luxury display, which married citrus tones, muted mossy greens and grayish purples. Sending out models in generously cut single-button jackets, cuffed shorts, and across-the-chest messenger bags in leather, designer Paul Helvers looked to push the boundaries of men's sportswear & defining what is elegant & chic. The impeccably cut suits had sportswear touches like zippered hoodies and ventilation flaps. Often the suits, in eye-popping oranges and yellows or muted moss and mauve tones, were topped with flowing microfiber windbreakers or light trenches. Accessories wore plastic sunglasses with yellow-glazed lenses and jewelry meant to resemble bicycle chains.
The German suitmaker, Hugo Boss also sent out a collection fit for the beaches of the chic French beach resort. Sticking to a navy white-and-red palette, and lots of horizontal sailors' shirt stripes, the well known designer paired tunic-length shirts in sheer cotton, with short shorts and cropped jackets cut even shorter in the back.
Eye catching label, Issey Miyake, featured color, and lots of it! Taking center-stage at the Paris-based Japanese label, designer Dai Fujiwara sent out Turkish-inspired harem pants and short suits in turquoise, Ceylon and Persian blues embellished with geometric mosaic designs and eye-popping tulip print. The blue, red and purple squares, triangles and hexagons woven into a cotton fabric turned a generously cut summer jacket into a delicate mosaic. Transitional Heatwave for Spring/Summer, 2010 Runway Trends

Keeping up with the latest trends for this Spring/ Summer 2010 season, designers emphasize big colors & even bolder accessories. Black and white fashion's were big on the runways this season. Let's face it, you can't go wrong with the traditional black and white outfit. The designer's know this little fact, and continue to cash in on it since it's such a simple palate.

Designers & fashionistas alike often look to international influences & trends for a spark of inspiration. One of my favorite places to visit, and hopefully live one day, is London. Some of the eye catching trends spotted on the streets of well known shopping districts such as Oxford street, has been reflected on the runways of featured designers such as Stella McCartney & Celine. As we've seen previous influences of 80's fashions spin into modern day wear, the 90's are starting to unveil their influences in the modern-day bodysuit. Well known designer, Donna Karan put the 'bodysuit' in the spotlight almost 25 years ago, has now been brought back to life as Rochas provides a modern-day twist for the Summer season. Brighten up your wardrobe by combining look-at-me accessories with powder grey & beige's. Some have even braved the head-to-toe look of psychedelic tie-dye prints with pink sandals, or extreme shades, which would brighten up anyone's day.
